Contact adhesives are applied to both surfaces separately and, once the solvent has flashed off, bond instantly under pressure. In footwear they are widely used for the upper-to-sole joint.
The adhesive has to allow enough open time, give high initial grab the moment the surfaces meet, and build strength afterwards. Güçlü® chloroprene and polyurethane contact adhesives perform reliably across different material pairings.
