Reactive PUR Adhesives

Reactive systems that cure with atmospheric moisture to form an irreversible, permanent bond resistant to heat and water.

Reactive PUR Adhesives
Description

Reactive polyurethane technology for applications where heat, moisture and chemical resistance are decisive.

Reactive polyurethane (PUR) adhesives are systems that cure after application through a chemical reaction with moisture in the air and on the surface. Unlike conventional thermoplastic hot melt adhesives, this reaction is irreversible: once curing is complete, the adhesive no longer remelts and attains a strength far higher than at the time of initial application.

Powermelt® reactive PUR adhesives provide initial tack within seconds as they cool, and reach their final strength once curing is completed within 24–48 hours. This dual behavior enables high-speed operation on the production line while delivering outstanding resistance to heat, water, moisture, and chemicals in the finished product.

They are the preferred choice for products exposed to demanding conditions, such as kitchen and bathroom furniture, wet-area applications, profile wrapping, 3D lamination, and automotive components. The products are supplied in cartridge, block, and slug forms, in moisture-protective packaging. B.E.S. Kimya provides technical support throughout the entire process, from tank and equipment selection to verification of curing conditions.

Advantages

Why Reactive PUR Adhesives?

Irreversible permanent bond

Cures with moisture to form a permanent, high-strength structure that will not remelt.

Superior heat resistance

Once cured, it does not soften at high temperatures, delivering performance far beyond standard hot melt systems.

Water and moisture resistance

Provides the resistance required for wet areas and applications exposed to outdoor conditions.

Fast initial grab

Grabs within seconds as it cools; parts can move on down the line without waiting for cure.

Low application amount

A thin, uniform film means lower consumption and a cleaner glue line.

Broad surface compatibility

Delivers reliable adhesion on wood, MDF, plastic, foil, metal and composite surfaces.

Types

Reactive PUR Adhesives technologies

1K

One-Component Moisture-Curing PUR

The most widely used reactive technology. It requires no mixing and cures on its own with atmospheric moisture. It runs at high efficiency on edge banding, profile wrapping and flat lamination lines.

LM

Low-Monomer PUR

Formulations with reduced free monomer content. They offer advantages in terms of worker health and labeling requirements while retaining classic PUR performance.

2K

Two-Component PUR Systems

Used by mixing resin and hardener at a defined ratio. Developed for structural applications that require controlled, fast curing independent of moisture levels.
